March 18, 1941 — May 19, 2025

Quincy

Barbara Ann Kahle, 84, of Quincy, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2025, with her dear friend by her side. A cherished sister, aunt, stepmother, and friend, Barbara will be remembered for her optimism, poise, and kindness.

Born March 18, 1941, Barbara was the daughter of John and Erma (Meugge) Briggs. She was raised in Tioga, Illinois, where she developed the resilience, determination, humor and compassion that would define her life. Barbara studied business at Gem City College and went on to enjoy a fulfilling career as a legislative assistant, working with Art Tenhouse, Laura Kent Donahue, Jil Tracey and Randy Freese until her retirement in 2013.

Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved husbands, Paul Tushaus (married in 1981) and Aaron Kahle (married in 2005); her parents and her brother-in-law, Larry Mullins.

She is survived by her sister, Carol "Kay" Mullins; her nephew, Christopher Briggs Mullins; her stepchildren and their families; and her devoted friend, Mary Ann Flowers, who became like family through the years.

A woman of faith and generosity, Barbara was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, a gifted pianist and a dedicated community member. She embraced her role as a grandparent with heartfelt enthusiasm. Her gracious spirit touched many, and her legacy lives on in the lives she enriched.

The family extends their gratitude to the staff at Quincy Healthcare & Senior Living and Blessing Hospice for the care and support Barbara received.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are pending with the Triplett Funeral Home of Golden, Illinois.
