Barry Shaffer

Barry S. Shaffer, 63, of Clayton, Illinois, passed away at 11:35 p.m. on Friday, February 9, 2024, at Timberpoint Health Care Center in Camp Point, Illinois. He was born on September 8, 1960, in Peoria, Illinois, a son of Jim and Carolyn (White) Shaffer.  

Barry was a professional and talented tree trimmer.  He owned and operated Professional Tree Service in Clayton, Illinois for many years. He was an avid coffee drinker.  Barry was known for his sweet tooth and witty sense of humor. He was a selfless single father, an adventurous grandpa and a loving family man. He will be missed by many.

Barry is survived by his mother, Carolyn Shaffer of Camp Point, Illinois; daughters, Mollie (John) Sanchez of Golden, Illinois, Brittney Shaffer of Clayton, Illinois; grandchildren, Jack Bruns and Ava Sanchez both of Golden, Illinois; siblings, Tom Shaffer of Quincy, Illinois, James Shaffer of Quincy, Illinois, Rich (Melissa) Shaffer of Liberty, Illinois, Mitzi (Tom) Connors of Mississippi, Charlene Bridgeman of Louisiana, Jackie Quinn of Quincy, Illinois, Kari Shaffer of Quincy, Illinois, Lillie Shaffer of Quincy, Illinois; and longtime friends, Aaron Morath and Andrea Tangerose.  Many nieces and nephews also survive.  

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; father, Jim Shaffer; brother, Jeff Shaffer; sister, Cindy Masterson; nephew, James Kalb and dog, Sheeva.

Cremation rites have been accorded. 

A Memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, February 16, 2024, at the Triplett Funeral Home in Golden, Illinois.  

Visitation will be held on Friday from 5:00 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 6:00 p.m.  Memorials may be made to the family, Blessing Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
