Betty Moore

December 31, 1933 — April 14, 2017

Betty J. Moore, 83, of Frederick, passed away at 9:30 AM, Friday, April 14, 2017, at her home.

She was born December 31, 1933, in Ripley, the daughter of Russell Roscoe and Ruby Pearl (Gossage) Moore.

Surviving are her son Kem Moore and wife Marlene of Yates City, three grandchildren Janet Moore of Springfield, Brian Moore and wife Jennifer of Jacksonville and John Moore of Springfield, three sisters Lena Lambert of Beardstown, Nina Young of Ripley and Kaye Jones of Mt. Sterling, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her longtime companion Jack Strong, and three sisters Opal Hedges, Rosalie Childers, and Faye Corbin.

Betty was a long time caregiver for the elderly and also worked at the Sugar Grove Store for many years.  She attended the Black Oak Church in Beardstown and Rushville Church of the Nazarene.  She loved her cat and to mow her yard.  She was very proud of her grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at the Wood Funeral Home in Rushville, with Reverend Fred Fritz officiating.  Interment will follow in the Rushville City Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Monday, April 17, 2017, at the Wood Funeral Home in Rushville.  Memorials are suggested to St. John’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in Springfield.
