Delores "Dee" Crouse

Delores J. “Dee” Crouse, 81, of Rushville, passed away at 4:40 PM, Saturday, September 2, 2017, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

She was born on September 30, 1935, in Rushville, the daughter of Claude H. and Nina R. (Armel) Sipes.  She married Robert Crouse on March 27, 1954, in Rushville and he survives.

Also surviving are four children Ricky Lee Crouse and wife Linda of Gillette, Wyoming, Robert Allen Crouse of Norris City, Roger Eugene Crouse and wife Shirley of Freeburg, Connie Sue Sommer and husband Marty of Springfield, six grandchildren Milisa Close, Richard Crouse and wife Lisa, Melinda Leastman and husband Wallace, Robert D. Crouse and wife Nikkilina, Ryan Crouse and wife Moli, and Cody Crouse and wife Brittany, one step grandson Travis Ethen and wife Amber, 16 great grandchildren Jacob , Rebecca and Taylor Close, Abbie, Isabel, Rhett, and Wyatt Crouse, Hadley and Breckyn Leastman, Reagan and Matthew Crouse, Ryleigh Crouse, Syler, Slader, Zoey and Bladen Crouse, one step great granddaughter Danika Ethen, two sisters Gwen Root and husband George of Gillespie and Sandra Chockley and husband Dick of Rushville, and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter-in-law Vicki Crouse and two sisters Portia Brierton and Gladys Taber.

Dee was a homemaker.  She was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Rushville, the Schuyler American Legion Post # 4 Auxiliary and the Culbertson Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.  She and her sister Gwen owned and operated C & R Ceramics in Marissa.  Dee was very artistic and enjoyed painting and arts and crafts.  Dee was always concerned with how her friends were doing and what was going on in their lives.  She always enjoyed entertaining at home and could prepare a meal on a moment’s notice.  Every meal had to have at least a couple of desserts.  Her greatest joy was spending time with family.

Services will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday, September 6, 2017, at the Wood Funeral Home in Rushville, with her grandson Robert D. Crouse officiating.  Interment will follow in the Messerer Cemetery near Frederick.  Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Tuesday, September 5, 2017, at the Wood Funeral Home in Rushville.  Memorials are suggested to the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) or the Schuyler County Food Basket.
