Dorothy Bentzinger

SUTTER, Ill. -- Dorothy L. Bentzinger, 92, of Sutter, passed away on Wednesday (July 22, 2015) at the North Adams Home in Mendon.

Dorothy was born Nov. 30, 1922, in Loraine, to the late Frank G. and Alma (Heinecke) Miller. She married Robert L. Bentzinger on Nov. 28, 1945, in Quincy. Robert passed away June 29, 2006.

Dorothy was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Mendon and attended Bethel United Church of Christ in Tioga. She enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking, baking, genealogy, visiting with family and friends and was known for her homemade breads.

Surviving are four children, Leona (Ron) Hinton of Emma, Mo., Robert (Vickie) Bentzinger of Warsaw, Karen (Roger) Bisby of Carthage, and Lyle (Mary Ann) Bentzinger of Mendon; 10 grandchildren, Ronald L. (Roxanne) Hinton, Deanna (David) Quinn, Michelle (Chris) Black, Doug (Jennifer) Bentzinger, Mark (Jaime) Bentzinger, Andrea (Steve) Worster, Curtis (Amber) Bisby, Blair (Matt) Garmer, Lauren Bentzinger, Reed Bentzinger; 16 great-grandchildren, one sister, Adalene (Basil) Rupp of Hot Springs, Ark.; and two sisters-in-law, Marilyn Miller and Irene Miller.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Ervin, Russell, Raymond and Melvin Miller; and one sister, Waneta Garrett.

SERVICES: 10 a.m. Monday, July 27, at the Hunter Funeral Home in Mendon, with Chaplain Richard Martin and David Schuring officiating. Interment will be in Moss Ridge Cemetery at Carthage.

VISITATION: 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday in the Hunter Funeral Home at Mendon.
