Elma Knox

Elma Jean Knox, 91, of Ursa passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2016 in the Good Samaritan Home in Quincy.

Elma was born on July 2, 1924 in Lima Township to the late Elmer and Elsie (Poulter) Brickman. She married Leslie James Knox on June 17, 1944 in Quincy. Les passed away on March 19, 2008.

Elma was a member of the Ursa Christian Church and was very active in the Live Wire class. She was a member of the Adams County Home Extension and American Legion Auxiliary. After graduation from high school, Elma worked as a telephone operator in Carthage.  She then worked for the Ursa Locker and finally as a clerk in the Ursa Post Office. Family was very important to her and she was an exceptional cook and baker.

Surviving are; two daughters, Barb (Lowell) McClelland of Quincy, Patti (Mark) McGinley, four grandchildren, Kelly (Ryan) Cunningham of Springfield, Kara Downs of Satellite Beach, FL., Aimee (Brian) White of San Diego, CA., Kendra Jobe of Palmyra, Mo. and two great-grandchildren, Ilana Downs of Satellite Beach, FL., and Layla Burroughs of Satellite Beach, FL.

She was preceded in death by one sister Lucille Rosskamp and a special first cousin, Ermal Rabe.

Services will be 12:00 P.M. on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 in the Ursa Christian Church in Ursa with Reverend Bill Mitchell officiating. Interment will be in the New Providence Cemetery near Ursa. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. until the time of services in the church on Wednesday, April 27, 2016. Memorial contributions have been suggested to the Ursa Christian Church.
