Gerald Balsar

URSA, Ill. -- Gerald D. Balsar, 91, of Ursa, passed away Saturday, Nov. 28, 2015, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.

Gerald was born Feb. 7, 1924, in Marcelline, to the late Floyd H. and Lura R. (Lewis) Balsar. He married Grace Vivian Hillman on Feb. 17, 1951, in Quincy. Vivian survives.

Gerald was a member of the Ursa Christian Church in Ursa and the Adams County Farm Bureau.

He enjoyed his tractors, camping, spending time with family and friends and was an avid Adams County Fair attendee. He and Vivian camped at the fair for 40 years.

Also surviving are one daughter, Marcia (Kevin) Pryor of Palmyra, Mo.; five grandchildren, Krista (Matt) Fainter of Quincy, Shawn (Kristin) McCord of Palmyra, Marissa Massner of Palmyra, Ariel Pryor of Palmyra, and Nick Pryor of Palmyra; three great-grandchildren, Alaina Fainter of Quincy, Liam Fainter of Quincy, Rogan McCord of Palmyra; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one son, Rodney "Rod" Balsar and one brother, Wayne Balsar.

SERVICES: 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2, at the Ursa Christian Church in Ursa, with the Rev. Bill Mitchell officiating. He will be laid to rest in New Providence Cemetery near Ursa.

VISITATION: 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1, at the Hunter Funeral Home in Mendon.
