Harold Wood

Harold James Wood, 88, of rural Lima, passed away Nov. 20, 2014, in the Montebello Healthcare Center in Hamilton.

Harold was born on July 28, 1926, in the Bear Creek area. He was a son of the late James Warner and Irene Nichols Wood. He attended three years of high school in Lima and graduated from Hamilton High School in 1944. On Feb. 24, 1951, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Schutte at the Bethany Church in Tioga.

Harold was a lifelong farmer. He enjoyed tractors and watching horse pulls at the Midwest Old Threshers. He was a member of the Methodist Church in Lima and was a charter member of the Federated Church of Lima, where he served on the board, the Lord's Acre Sale Committee and was a Sunday school superintendent for many years.

Harold is survived by his wife, Dorothy, of rural Lima; three children, Leon Wood of Rhode Island, Pam Wood of Chicago and Amy (Don) Gee of Hamilton; two granddaughters, Kristina Gee and Selena Wood, both of Chicago; one sister, Helen Wood of Lima; one sister-in-law, Audene Schrader of rural Lima; and nieces and nephews, Lana (Blaise) Bullimore of Wales, Brenda (Jeff) Howe of Alaska, Ann (Terry) Alter of Quincy and Kevin (Diane) Schrader of rural Lima.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers-in-law, one sister-in-law, and one grandson, Quantell Wood.

SERVICES: 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, in the Hunter Funeral Home, Mendon, with the Rev. Richard Martin conducting. Interment will be in New Providence Cemetery, Ursa.

VISITATION: 5-7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12, in the funeral home.
