Jeanette Buss

d. August 18, 2011

MENDON, Ill. -- Jeanette Yvonne Buss, 71, of Mendon, formerly of Clayton, died Thursday (Aug. 18, 2011) in North Adams Home.

Jeanette was born on Dec. 20, 1939, in Clayton to Harold and Nina (Sullivan) Post. She married John Buss on Easter Sunday April 1, 1956, in Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Golden. John survives of Mendon.

Jeanette was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Golden and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Golden. John and Jeanette lived southeast of Golden for 10 years and then purchased a farm North of Mendon in 1966. They enjoyed country music concerts and stock car races at Quincy Raceways. Every year they traveled to Florida to visit Jeanette's mother. A favorite activity was camping at the Mount Pleasant Threshers Reunion every fall. If you wanted to know what happened on any date or a birthdate, Jeanette kept a diary and a very detailed family history. Another hobby of hers was collecting coupons.

In addition to her husband, Jeanette is survived by her mother, Nina Ruth Hartzog of Jacksonville, Fla.; three children, Roger Buss and his wife, Gerri, of Mendon, Debbie Coulson and her husband, Steve, of Ursa and Richard Buss and his wife, Leann, of Hobbs, N. M.; five grandchildren, Cheryl Coulson, Jenny Lowrance and Adam, Alex, and Austin Buss; and three step-grandchildren.

On the very same day Jeanette died her first great-grandchild, Caleb Michael Buss, was born completing five living generations for six hours. They included great-great-grandma Nina, great-grandma Jeanette, grandpa Roger, father Adam, and baby Caleb. Also surviving are sisters-in-laws, Lois Buss, Penny Stauffer, Fern Pratt, Rose Gasperson and Gertrude Cutsinger.

She was preceded in death by her father, Harold Post; two brothers-in-law, Eilert Buss and Irvine Buss; and two sisters-in-law, Lillian LaBorde and Vivian Schoening
