June Huston

August 22, 1927 — September 5, 2018

June Elizabeth (Goldsborough) Huston, 91, of Rushville, passed away at 2:05 PM, Wednesday, September 5, 2018, at Heritage Health in Beardstown.

She was born on August 22, 1927, in Schuyler County, Illinois, the daughter of Harvey Curtis and Anna Maria (Dean) Goldsborough. June was a 1945 graduate of Rushville High School.  She married Harold Huston in 1952. She worked for many years as a cook at Rushville Junior High School Cafeteria and later as a ward clerk at Culbertson Memorial Hospital.  She also worked as a secretary for the Free Methodist Church in Rushville.

She was a lifelong member and an active servant in the Free Methodist Church in Rushville, teaching Sunday School, serving as steward, volunteering in the CYC program, and serving as treasurer for Rushville Family Camp.   Her Christian faith and her family were the greatest sources of joy and hope in her life; she prayed fervently for her daughters and their families and invested her life in establishing holiday traditions and creating lasting memories. Her grandchildren will always remember Easter egg hunts, rides in the red wagon, long rows of Christmas stockings lining the mantle, tea parties, homemade gifts, and being allowed to nail countless platforms in her red pine tree. She preserved these memories in journals that she kept for each of her eight grandchildren. She was a talented baker, loved planting flowers, and filled several notebooks with journal entries. She always acknowledged her family’s and friends’ birthdays and anniversaries with cards and often wrote thoughtful notes or sent baked goods to people who needed encouragement.

Surviving are three daughters Marie Beth Oakley and husband Daniel of Minonk, Illinois; Colleen Annette Warren and husband Jim of Marion, Indiana; and Teresa Kathleen Boyd and husband Larry of Queen Creek, Arizona; grandchildren  Andy Brehm (Callie), Amy Laabs (Curtis), Spencer Owen (Stephanie), Curtis Owen, Kelsey Mitchener (Nathan), Nathanael Warren (Courtney), Faith Warren, and Caitlyn Koeberlein (Adam);  great grandchildren  Maddox Brehm, Kaeson, Kairi, and Kenzie Laabs, and Jeniva Owen; sisters-in-law Edith Goldsborough and Verna Goldsborough, both of Rushville, and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her five brothers, Harold Goldsborough, Melvin Goldsborough, Kenneth Goldsborough, Morris Goldsborough, and Junior Goldsborough (her twin), and her two sisters, Marie Washam and  Violet Phillips.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 10, 2018, at the Free Methodist (Hope) Church in Rushville, with her nephew Pastor Rob Kirkham officiating.  Interment will follow in the Ebenezer Cemetery, south of Rushville.  Memorials can be made to the Free Methodist Family Camp.
