Karen Sue Brotherton,65, of Quincy past away on Monday, February 22, 2016 in her home in Quincy.

Karen was born on February 3, 1951 in Keokuk, Ia to the late Loyd and Ella (Applegate) Brotherton. On February 13, 1969, she was united in marriage to Charles Keith Hoing II and to this union, three children were born. Keith, Kevin and Tammy.

Over the past 10 years, Karen has enjoyed living her life to the fullest with her fiancé, Ron VaLeu of Quincy. She enjoyed playing golf, going to yard sales, camping, rafting the Current River and spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include her children, Charles Keith Hoing, III and his wife Michelle of Ursa, Kevin Hoing of Loraine, Tammy Hoing and her boyfriend Justin Trammel of Quincy, Sisters-in-law, Christine Brotherton of Argyle, IA, Glenna Brotherton of West Point, IA, one brother Paul Brotherton and his wife Ruth of Kahoka, Mo., twelve grandchildren, Joshua and his wife Courtney, Lane, Landon, Addyson, Coy, Hayleigh, Tiara, Hannah, Emma, Breanna, Brandon, Amber and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a daughter -in-law, Robin Hoing, eight brothers, Edmond, Gene, Hilbert, Melvin, Elmer, Luther, Alvin and Marvin Brotherton, six sisters, Mildred Nichols, Marilyn Frey, Gertrude Asher, Maurine Hopkins, Margaret Brotherton and Mabel Warren.

Services will be 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 in the Hunter Funeral Home in Mendon. Interment will follow in the Mendon Cemetery in Mendon. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M until the time of services on Wednesday in the Hunter Funeral Home in Mendon. Memorial contributions have been suggested to the Blessing Foundation for Hospice.
