Linda Jones, 72, of Camp Point, Illinois, passed away at 11:50 p.m. on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois. She was born in Beardstown, Illinois, on December 8, 1952, a daughter of Wayne E. and Betty L. (McGill) Smith. She married Hugh David Jones in Dallas, Texas, and together they raised their family.

Linda attended Hersman Grade School and graduated from H. Grady Spruce High School in 1971. After graduation, she began her career as a legal secretary for Patton Boggs, LLC until her retirement in.

She was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan. She loved watching her soap operas.

Linda is survived by her mother, Betty L. Smith of Golden, Illinois; son, David Wayne Jones of Dallas, TX; stepdaughters, Melissa and Kelsey Nolasco of Oklahoma; grandchildren, Jacob, Jessica, Dylan, David Wayne, Emma Grace, Aryan Jones, Brandon and Corey Nolasco; sister, Peggy (Michael) Kile of Caddo Mills, Texas; brothers, Tommy (Marsha) Smith of Clarksville, TN, Donald (Betty) Smith of Golden, Illinois, and Wayne (Kim) Smith of Sunrise Beach, MO. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Thomas and Zoe McGill; paternal grandparents James and Emma Smith; father, Wayne E. Smith, daughter Angie Wright, and a brother Ronnie Smith.

Cremation rites have been accorded.

A Memorial Graveside Service for Linda will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at the Hersman Cemetery in Hersman, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the family to help with funeral expenses.
