GOLDEN, Ill. -- Louis Dale Eicken, 86, of Chandler, Ariz., died Thursday (March 29, 2012) in Chandler Regional Hospital.

Dale was born Sept. 16, 1925, on a farm near LaPrairie, a son of the late Richard and Jennie Ihnen Eicken. He married Mary Bowen on July 23, 1944. She survives.

He was baptized and was a confirmed member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Golden for many years. He was a member of St. Matthew's United Methodist Church in Mesa, Ariz.

In 1950 Dale and Mary opened Eicken Implement Co., in Golden, which he successfully operated for 35 years.

Dale was a 40-year member of the Golden Lions Club, served on the Village Board for 20 years, and also served eight years as mayor of Golden.

He and Mary moved to Quincy in 1993 and to Chandler in 2004, where they had wintered for more than 25 years.

Dale was an active member of the Chandler Elks Lodge No. 2429. For many years he enjoyed league bowling and golf. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

In addition to his wife, survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Ramon Grimmer of Rocky Mount, Mo.; two grandsons, Cary Grimmer (Caryn) of Des Plaines and Casey Grimmer (Kathleen) of Okinawa, Japan; six great-grandchildren, Milena, Nataley, Ely and Monyca Grimmer of Des Plaines, Andy and Stella Grimmer of Okinawa, Japan; a sister-in-law, Alice (John) Green; a brother-in-law, Bud (Pat) Bowen; and several nieces and nephews.

SERVICES: Were held Sunday in St. Matthew's United Methodist Church in Mesa.

VISITATION: There will be a visitation from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Hunter Funeral Home in Golden with a prayer service at 2 p.m. Interment will follow in Golden Memorial Gardens, Golden.

MEMORIALS: Golden Good Shepherd Home or donor's choice.

ARRANGEMENTS: Hunter Funeral Home, Golden.
