Louis Norman Reuschel, 94, of Golden, Illinois, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2025. A lifelong resident of Golden, Louis was born on July 14, 1930, and graduated from Golden Grade School in 1944. Following his education, he began farming—a vocation that became both his livelihood and legacy.
On October 30, 1950, Louis married Isabel Bruns, and together they built a life rooted in faith, family, and dedication to their community. He established Reuschel Farms and remained committed to sustainable agriculture and soil conservation throughout his life. In 1980, he and his family were honored with the Adams County Soil and Conservation District Outstanding Conservation Farm Family Award.
Louis was a man deeply devoted to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. His greatest desire was for others to know the boundless love of God. This passion permeated every part of his life, from his service as a Sunday School teacher and board member at Trinity Lutheran Church, to his inspirational talks as “The Singing Farmer,” a role through which he joyfully shared his faith and humor with countless organizations and events.
A tireless community servant, Louis was active in the Golden Lions Club, served as a 4-H leader, and contributed his time to the Golden Good Shepherd Home Board and the Community Unit District No. 3 School Board. His leadership and kind spirit touched many lives.
Louis was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Mary Reuschel; his wife, Isabel, his brothers, Henry, George, and Ben; his sisters, Esther (Benhard) Buss, Leta (Clarence) Post, Mary (Ernest) Haschemeyer, Elda (Arnold) Gronewold, Dorothy (Bert) Ufkes, and Ruth (Irwin) Ideus, and his daughter, Brenda (Randy) Hess.
