Marvin C. Davidson, 77, of Mendon, Illinois, passed away at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy, Illinois. He was born in Peoria, Illinois, on July 19, 1947, a son of Charles and Florence (Kupferschmid) Davidson. Marvin married Judy E. Epperson on June 5, 1977, at the Payson United Methodist Church. And she survives.
Marvin was a 1966 graduate of Bowen High School. He proudly served his country in the Navy during the Vietnam War on the USS Prairie and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. He farmed for many years on the family farm. He worked as a nurse’s assistant and physical therapist assistant retiring in 2011. He mentored the neighbor kids in Lima, sharing what he knew about various sports and encouraging them to get involved. He enjoyed playing golf and collecting golf balls, farm toys, and baseball cards. He loved walking around Mendon, especially with his friend, Gary Hull.
Those left to cherish his memory are, his wife, Judy of Mendon, two sons, Charles Robert (Carol) Davidson of Dyersburg, Tennessee, and Shawn Davidson of Mendon; grandchildren, Jordon and Joshua Davidson of Quincy, Zachary and Ethan Davidson of Dyersburg, Tennessee; sisters-in-law, Alice Davidson and Kathy Frye; brothers-in-law, Mike (Vicki) Epperson, Gary Epperson and Steve Epperson. Numerous nieces, nephews, and a great nephew also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Charlene (Bill) Edwards and Marilyn Davidson; brother, Russ Davidson; sister-in-law, Joni Epperson and his brother-in-law, Gary Frye.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
Graveside services will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, January 10, 2025, at Quincy Memorial Park located in Quincy, Illinois. Pastor Larry Smith to officiate. Military Honors will be conducted by the United States Navy Funeral Honors Detail and the Bear Creek American Legion Post 823. Memorials may be made to the Illinois Veterans Home activities fund.
