Maurice "Morry" Koch

Maurice "Morry" Koch, 88, of Mendon, Illinois, passed away at 1:40 a.m. on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at the Mt. Sterling Health and Rehab Center in Mt. Sterling, Illinois.

He was born on March 29, 1937, in Mt. Sterling, Illinois, the son of Eugene and Irene (Garthaus) Koch. He married Patricia Steinkamp on October 20, 1962, at the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Quincy, Illinois. She preceded him in death on November 4, 2015. Maurice and Patricia had known each other since they were 15 years old.

Maurice attended St. Francis Grade School. He graduated from Quincy Notre Dame High School and the Milwaukee Institute of Technology. After graduation, he received training as a radio technician in the Naval Reserves. He later worked for Quincy Speaker, which became Harris Corporation, and retired after 44 years of service.

He was a member of St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church in Mendon, where he served as an Usher and assisted with many funeral dinners. He was a member of the Legion of Mary, Mississippi Valley Historical Antique Automobile Club, Adams County Olde Tyme Association, Goldwing Road Rider Club and the Eagles Club, and the Harris Quarter of a Century Club.

Maurice owned a small farm and liked restoring antique tractors. He enjoyed hunting deer, squirrel, rabbit, and waterfowl. Maurice and Patricia were enthusiastic motorcycle riders and dedicated grandparents, regularly accompanying their grandchildren to events such as the Adams County Fair and Old Tyme Thresher reunions.

He is survived by his daughter, Brenda Kay (Lee Adrian) Mudd of New London, Missouri; son, Michael Koch of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; two grandchildren, Fr. Nathanael Lee Mudd C.P.M of the Fathers Of Mercy based in South Union, Kentucky, assigned at the Shrine Of Our Lady of Good Help at Champion, Wisconsin, and Anna Marie Mudd of New London, Missouri, currently pursuing her Canan Law Degree from St. Paul University in Ottawa, Canada. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Patricia, and his brother Francis Koch and his wife Phyllis Koch.

Funeral Services for Morry will be held on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. at the Triplett Funeral Home in Mendon, Illinois followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Edward's the Confessor Catholic Church in Mendon, Illinois. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Quincy, Illinois.

Visitation is scheduled at Triplett Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., commencing with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. and concluding with the rosary at 6:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to Fathers Of Mercy, 806 Shaker Museum Road, Auburn, Kentucky 42206.
