Richard “Dick” Moore, 86, of LaMonte, Missouri, passed away at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at Lee’s Summit Medical Center in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. He was born on March 6, 1938, a son of Raymond L. and Viola Ruth (Fader) Moore. He married Sue (Knoche) Johnson on July 24,1959 at Concordia Lutheran Church in Warsaw, Illinois. Together they raised three children.
Dick was a 1956 graduate of Unity High School. He was a member of the Eldorado Methodist Church near LaMonte, Missouri, the Missouri Pork Producers Association, National Boer Goat Association and the Lion’s Club in Canton, Missouri. He served several terms as the Lewis County Commissioner. He was a cattle, hog, goat, chicken and sheep farmer retiring in 1992. Dick continued his work as a salesman for Merschman Seed Company. Dick enjoyed sports, hunting, fishing, and bird watching.
He is survived by his son, Keith (Carole) Moore of Belle, Missouri, daughters, Tena (Rick) Jones of La Grange, Missouri and Jane (Mark) Depper of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Grandchildren, Erin Moore, Wesley (Alex) Moore, Will Moore, David Peck, Zechariah (Laura) Moore, Stephanie (Aaron) Neisen, Susannah (Eli) Harscher, Stephen (Jenna) Jones and James Depper; great grandchildren, Clara Lindhurst, Hank, Gus, and Bo Neisen, Nolan Jones, Ariel, Amanda, and Zeke Moore; Lucy Moore, and a sister, Patricia (Steve) Denny of Naperville, Illinois. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Bill Moore.
Visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at the Triplett Funeral Home in Mendon, Illinois. The funeral will follow at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at New Providence Cemetery near Ursa, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
