MENDON, Ill. -- Robert J. "Rob" Duncan, 49, of Prairie Home, Mo., formerly of the Mendon area, passed away on Monday (Aug. 4, 2014) in Prairie Home.

Rob was born on Dec. 29, 1964, in Quincy to William and Dolores Evans Duncan.

Rob was baptized at the Mendon Congregational Church. In his younger years, he was a member of 4-H and FFA. He was very athletic and played football and baseball and ran track in high school. He earned an associate degree in animal science from Blackhawk Junior College in Kewanee and was on the Collegiate Livestock Judging Team.

Rob graduated from the University of Illinois in 1987 with a bachelor's degree in ag science and ag economics. He was a member of the Hoof and Horn Club. He was on the Meats Judging Team and Meat Animal Evaluation Team. Currently, Rob was employed as a broker/salesman for United Country Commercial Real Estate. In 2012 he was honored as being the No. 4 salesperson for the United Country franchise. He coached baseball and basketball for several years in Prairie Home.

Surviving are his parents, Bill and Dolores Duncan of Fowler; his life partner, Pam Zey of Prairie Home; one brother, James (Julie) Duncan of Chesterfield, Mo.; one sister, Cynthia (Dennis) Mohrman of Normal; and nieces and nephews, Clare (Doug) Bergman of Chicago, Matt Mohrman of Chicago, Brandon Duncan of the Quad Cities, Michael Duncan of Chicago, Anna Duncan of Chesterfield, Mo., Dallas Duncan of Mount Sterling, Cutter Duncan of Fowler, Taylor Zey of Prairie Home and Makayla Zey of Prairie Home.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Thomas R. Duncan.

SERVICES: 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 8, in the Mendon Congregational Church in Mendon, with the Rev. Dennis Gartung conducting. Interment will be in the Home Cemetery near Fowler.

VISITATION: 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, in the Hunter Funeral Home in Mendon.

MEMORIALS: Unit 4 Athletic Boosters, the Mendon Congregational Church or Home Cemetery.
