Robert L. Keith, 88, of Mendon, passed away Tuesday (April 28, 2015) at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy.

Robert was born May 3, 1926, in Adams County to the late Kenneth and Myrtle (Barry) Keith. He married Nancy A. Nutt on Nov. 6, 1955. Nancy passed away Nov. 5, 1995.

Robert served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.

He was a member of the Loraine United Methodist Church and the Bear Creek American Legion. He was past patron of the Order of the Eastern Star, a 50-year member of the Mendon Masonic Lodge No. 449 and a 25-year member of the Quincy Consistory. Robert was a township trustee for 31 years, a Mendon village clerk for six years and Mendon village trustee for four years. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening.

Surviving are three children, Sandra Williams of Quincy, Anita Courtois of Mendon and David (Trish) Donley of Creighton, Mo.; 10 grandchildren, Christine Vanzile, Susan Blackburn, Erica Thomas, Raymond Courtois, Bill Courtois, Nichole Courtois, April Donley, Shannon Donley, Chantel Donley, Shawn Donley; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two brothers, Donald Keith of Seguin, Texas, and James (Margie) Keith of Hannibal, Mo.; and one sister, Shirley (Bob) King of Mendon.

SERVICES: 10 a.m. Friday, May 1, at the Loraine United Methodist Church in Loraine, with the Rev. Connie Jenkins officiating. Interment will be in the New Providence Cemetery near Ursa.

VISITATION: 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 30, at the Hunter Funeral Home in Mendon with Masonic services at 7 p.m. conducted by the Mendon Masonic Lodge No. 449.

MEMORIALS: Loraine United Methodist Church for its new roof.
