URSA, Ill. -- Ruby Mae Crow, 74, of Ursa, went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on Sunday (May 25, 2014) in the North Adams Home in Mendon.

Ruby was born on May 11, 1940, in Blessing Hospital in Quincy to the late Frederick E. and Lydia M. Moellring Lucking of Fowler. She married Ortho David Crow on Aug. 14, 1965, in St. Paul United Church of Christ in Fowler.

Ruby was a 1958 graduate of Unity High School and graduated from Western Illinois University in 1962. She was a teacher of home economics in Augusta and at Quincy Junior High School in Quincy.

Ruby was an active member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Fowler and later became an active member of Salem Lutheran Church in Mendon.

She dedicated 35 years to being a 4-H leader and treasured every young person she was privileged to lead. She was honored as an "Outstanding 4-H Leader of the Year in Adams County." Her passion was being a devoted farm wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

Surviving are her husband, David Crow; one daughter, Leanne (Paul) Walker; one grandson, David Walker; and one sister, Ruth Shupe.

She was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Wendell Shupe.

SERVICES: 10 a.m. Friday, May 30, in Salem Lutheran Church in Mendon, with Deacon Pat Monroe officiating. Interment will be in New Providence Cemetery near Ursa.

VISITATION: 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 29, in the Salem Lutheran Church in Mendon.

MEMORIALS: Salem Lutheran Church or the 4-H Extension Office of Adams/Brown County.
