Shirley Yvonne Wear Cline, 78, of Beardstown, formerly of Burton, died at 11:10 a.m. Sunday (May 25, 2014) in Heritage Manor in Beardstown.
She was born on Dec. 9, 1935, in Loraine, the daughter of the late Jabez and Daisy Myrtle Louderback Wear. She married Thomas Cline on Oct. 3, 1953, in Palmyra, Mo. He died Sept. 26, 2008.
Most of her life, Shirley was a stay-at-home mom enjoying occasional outside-the- home employment cleaning houses and working in the bakery at Hy-Vee on 30th and Broadway.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Beardstown, and in the past church affiliations had been active in activities including women's groups, Sunday school and vacation Bible school.
She was an avid crocheter who participated in local craft shows and farmer's markets for many years. When she was a young mother and grandmother, she enjoyed camping and traveling.
Shirley is survived by two children, Carol Mohr of Beardstown and Thomas (Penny) Cline Jr. of Fredericksburg, Va.; six grandchildren, Mike (Dawn) Mohr of Tallahassee, Fla., Chris (Erin) Mohr of Dubuque, Iowa, Laura (Tom) Moore of Quincy, Jessie (Vlad) Kanurin, Allie Cline and Geoff Cline and friend, Megan Healy, of Fredericksburg; three great-grandchildren, Riley and Gracie Mohr of Dubuque and Ellie Mohr of Tallahassee; sisters-in-law, Mae Arnold of Quincy and Ilena Wear of Spring, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to husband and parents, she was preceded in death by six sisters and four brothers, Daisy Junk, Belle Junk, Bessie Ward, Jabez Wear, Cyrus Wear, Howard Wear, Inez Tournear, who passed away on May 24, Adra Germann, Doris Russell, and Donald Wear.
SERVICES: 10 a.m. Saturday, May 31, in the Hunter Funeral Home in Mendon, with the Rev. Connie Jenkins officiating. Interment will be in Curless Cemetery near Loraine.
VISITATION: 5 to 7 p.m. Friday in the Hunter Funeral Home in Mendon.
MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cass-Schuyler Area Hospice, Culbertson Memorial Hospital, or Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Beardstown.
