Shirley Ann Worman, 88, of Quincy, Illinois, formerly of Tuscan, Arizona died peacefully on June 6, 2025, at Timber Point Healthcare in Camp Point. She was born on May 30, 1937, in Denver, Illinois to Leroy and June Walton. She married Larry Worman in 1963 at the Christian Church in Denver, Illinois. He survives.
Shirley attended Harmony, a one-room schoolhouse, and graduated from Carthage High School. Following their marriage, they were assigned to Germany from 1970 until 1974. Professionally, she worked as a bookkeeper for Jefferson Heights Apartments until her retirement. In 2002, Larry and Shirley purchased an RV and traveled to every state in the union, returning home in 2006.
She excelled at cooking, with roast being her specialty. As an artist, she painted the one-room schoolhouse that she attended and many others. Shirley was a skilled seamstress who made many quilts, and she enjoyed crocheting and knitting in her free time.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Larry of Quincy, Illinois; her son, Chris Worman of Florida; her brother, Mike Walton of Keokuk, Iowa; and her sisters-in-law, Gloria Walton and Marcy Walton. Additionally, numerous nieces and nephews survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Jim Walton and Jerry Walton; and her sister, Patricia (Romone) Gonzalez.
Graveside Services for Shirley will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery 3 miles east of Bentley, Illinois. Pastor Larry Smith will officiate the services. Memorials may be made to the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery Association.
