Thenie B. Carson

Thenie B. King, aged 92, of Quincy, Illinois. formerly of LaPrairie and Golden, Illinois, died at 10:15 p.m. on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at Quincy Healthcare & Senior Living.

Born on May 12, 1933, in Bowling Green, Kentucky, to Eddie and Zeffie (East) King, she married Bobby Carson in Kentucky, and together they raised three sons. Thenie was a Bowling Green High School graduate. Following her education, she worked for many years as a Nurse’s Assistant at Golden Good Shepherd Home. In her later years, she delighted in solving crossword puzzles and other brainteasers.

A former member who was very active in the LaPrairie Methodist Church, Thenie was also an accomplished quilter, creating unique quilts for her family. She enjoyed crocheting and making Afghans as well. Above all, she was a devoted and loving grandmother who treasured her grandchildren.

She is survived by her son, Monte (Brenda) Carson of Quincy; two grandson, Dusty (Paige Kinman) Carson of Arizona and Brandon Carson of Coatsburg, Illinois, and six great grandchildren, Jasmine and Lily Kinman, Gage, Willow and Sage Carson, and Karson Bloyd.

Thenie was preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sisters, and one son Andy Carson.

A graveside service is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at the Golden Community Cemetery in Golden. Reverend Sheri Renner will lead the ceremony. Memorial contributions may be made to Triplett Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses.
