William "Bill" Woodworth

William “Bill” Pleasant Woodworth , 89, of Mendon passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 in his home.

Bill was born on August 5, 1926 in rural Adams County to the late Edward and Clara (Voorhis) Woodworth. He married Marilyn Adair in 1947 and she passed away on April 27, 1979. He later married Mary Ellen Frericks Karch on July 23, 1982. Mary Ellen Survives of Mendon.

Bill owned and operated Woodworth Cesspool Service for over 50 years. He had rental cabins on the Mississippi River west of Ursa, farmed and was a raw fur buyer. He owned Woody’s Camp Ground and car washes in Mendon and Golden. He operated “Bill and Mary Ellen’s Place” at the Colony Flea Market for over 25 years.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and mushroom hunting. Bill checked in the first deer in Adams County in 1957 after deer hunting was resumed after many years.

Surviving are; two sons, William K. (Pat) Woodworth of Mendon, Gary (Pat) Woodworth of Mendon, two daughters, Karen (Jerry) Juilfs of Golden, Pam (Mike) Rabe of Ursa, three grandchildren, Gail (Gary) Mast of Fowler, Ryan (Jayna) Klauser of Quincy, Clayton (Julia) Rabe of Camanche, IA, six great-grandchildren, Kris, Katie and Kailyn Mast of Fowler, Adayre and Bradyn Klauser of Quincy, Wyatt Rabe of Camanche, IA., three step-children, Angie (Dan) Burton of Quincy, Beverly (Oliver) Gable of Camp Point, Brian (Rochell Sharp)Karch, six step-grandchildren, six step- great-grandchildren, one brother, Marshall Woodworth of Quincy, many nieces and nephews and his dog Charlie.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Helen Hamilton, five brothers, Walter, Frank, Albert “Bud”, Alva and Chester Woodworth.

Services will be 10:30 A.M. on Monday, April 4, 2016 in the Hunter Funeral Home in Mendon with Fr. Mark Schulte officiating. Interment will be in the New Loraine Cemetery in Loraine. Visitation will be from 3:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. on Sunday, April 3, 2016 in the Hunter Funeral Home in Mendon. Memorials have been suggested to the Blessing Foundation for Hospice or the Mendon, Loraine or Coatsburg Fire Departments.
